The View From Here

I’ve tried for years to keep an accurate record of all the books I read in a year. Every year I try and fail. I’m hoping to keep this page updated as I check books out from the library and add the ones I read to the Completed list. You’ll notice several books at a time in a series, which is my current method of sanity. Usually these books take me an evening and a morning to complete and I’m always left wanting more. I found that if I read the entire series back to back I come away feeling better about the whole situation. (This was also the way I read the entire Harry Potter series during one month in Alaska and probably the way I will read the Twilight series, as soon as I buy them.) I normally plow through several thousand pages of historical fiction, adventure memoirs, chick lit and general novels and then take a break to focus on my knitting or whatever the muse is at the time. I’ve tried audio books and made it through one and a half. I like having the control of turning the pages with my own hands, enabling me to go back as reread if I wanted to double-check something and listening to someone else read for theatrical effect (at the pace of a snail) drove me nutty.
